Firstly…what’s “Da`wah”?!!!
#GoodQuestion…#Answer
“Da`wah” means “Invitation/Promotion”:
From the Verb, “Da`ā”, meaning “To call/request”.
“Da`wah” is informing, teaching, etc. about what al-Islām is & isn’t.
Knowing who Allah is and equally knowing who Allah isn’t
Secondly…what’s the “Da`wah-Scene”?!!!
#GoodQuestion…#Answer
As per Islāmic-Theology/Vernacular:
The “Da`wah-Scene” is a Conferderated-Community of Muslim-Individuals globally, with either direct or indirect Personal-Connections with each other. It’s kind of like a “3-Degrees of Separation” Vibe. Yeah…all dat Shit sound “Good”, unless/until one peels-back the Onion-Layers of the Nifāq (Hypocrisy) which so/too many so-called “Du`āt/Islāmic-Promoters” harbor internally within themselves. And, the afofementioned brings me to my own Personal-Journey as a Member of the “Da`wah-Scene”. This Global-Confederation is dominated almost exclusively via al-Hizbiyyah (Religio-Sectarianism) for the Record. And, those whom’re Religio-Sectarians always show as such. The “Da`wah-Scene is basically predicated upon what’s known as Religio-Academic Feudalism. And, according to the so-called “Da`wah-Gatekeepers”: if you’re not down with it then you’re not a “Dā`ī/Islāmic-Promoter”.
Analyzing the Addiction known as Personality-Worship
Wait…What’s Religio-Academic Feudalism?!!!
For anyone familiar with Euro-Feudalism, this’ll be easy for you to comprehend:
`Ālim (Scholar): Noble/Lord
Shaykh (Teacher): Vassal/Overlord
Tālib (Student-Of-Knowledge): Vassal/Baron
Dā`ī (Promoter): Knight/Soldier
Imām (Mosque/Community-Leader): Esquire
Ustādh (Instructor): Franklin
Brother/Sister (Speaker): Serf
For anyone familiar with Roman-Catholicism, and/or the Mafia, this’ll be easy for you to comprehend:
`Ālim = Cardinal/Don*¹
Shaykh = Archbishop/Consigliere*²
Tālib = Bishop/Underboss
Dā`ī = Missionary/Capo-Regime
Imām = Deacon/Lieutenant*³
Ustādh = Priest/Soldier*⁴
Brother/Sister = Parishioner/Associate*⁵
*1`Ulamā’/Scholars (Plural of `Ālim) are governed via al-Lajnah (Religio-Scholastic Commitee, Commission, Board, etc.) every Muslim-Country has a Lajnah, which is directly/overtly influence and/or controlled via the Government. Even Certain Non-Muslim Countries have a Lajnah. More often than not, Lajnah-Members 9/10 are all Governmental-Employees.
*2 “Shaykh” & “`Ālim” are often used interchangeably.
*3 “Imām”, “Shaykh”, “`Ālim”, are often used interchangeably.
*4 “Ustādh” & “Shaykh” are often used interchangeably.
*5 “Brother/Sister” is actually used to demean the Seriousness of a Specific-Persons Religio-Academia. This is especially true/honest referring to Muslim-Reverts. Lots of Times, Muslim-Reverts are relugated to the Title “Brother/Sister”.

The Most-Important Facts which Gareth Bryant has learned about the “Da`wah-Scene”
The 1st-Da`wah is to you & yours
Allah states:
“Those whom believe pay attention: Save yourselves as well as your own Peoples from Fire.”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.66, V.6)
We, as Muslims, are supposed to constantly/consistently be striving to be obedient to Allah via being Better-Muslims everyday. And, thus striving towards at-Tahsīn (Improvement) is supposed to serve as a Catalyst to lead others towards an-Najiyyah (Salvation). If I’m Impious, then there’s 0-Eay I can cultivate anyone else upon at-Taqwā/Piety.
al-Ijtihād/Decision-Making
I’m grateful I retired early from the “Da`wah-Scene”
Allah states:
“Those whom believe pay attention: Upon you are yourselves.”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.5, V.105)
I, personally, was heavily-entrenched in the “Da`wah-Scene”, via a Da`wah-Group I was a Co-Founder of back in 1421, AH/2000, CE. I had a Long-Stretch with this Da`wah-Group. But, then, I became detatched from Da`wah-Work: it began to feel Artificial, Fake, etc. It no longer feel like Genuine-Da`wah. It felt like it was just something to do. After my Unofficial-Retirement from that Da`wah-Group: I began to realize that just me continuing to live the Life of a Muslim is the Best-Da`wah, to ever offer any Fellow-Human. And, I’ve consistently been like that.
My Necessary-Decisions
Da`wah isn’t about “convincing” nor “converting” anyone to come to al-Islām
Allah states:
“Verily, you can’t guide whom you Love. But, Allah guides whomever They will.”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.28, V.56)
Being Part of the “Da`wah-Scene” makes one think/feel they can actually “guide” someone. For the Record: that’s Arrogant-As-Fuck. We can’t do Shit, except that Allah divinely allows/empowers us to do so. And, as Allah mentions: only Allah is capable/able to guide. The Hypocritical-Irony is that there’s countless so-called “Du`āt/Islāmic-Promoters” who’ve proven to be completely incapable and unable to “convince” the Closest-Persons to them (whether they be Muslims or Non-Muslims), to either be Muslims or to be more obedient to Allah.
Only Allah can guide anyone
Most-Muslims in the “Da`wah-Scene” genuinely don’t belong there
Allah states:
“And, don’t pursue what you don’t know.”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.17, V.36)
Most-Muslims just think that giving ad-Da`wah is some Sort of Outting or Outdoor-Activity. They go spend Time @ “Da`wah-Tables/Booths” @ “Islāmic-Events”, “Street-Vending Events”, etc. and think they’ve done something “spectacular” just because they distributed a Bunch-Of-Pamphlets about a-Islām. Or, they think if any Specific-Person actually becomes Muslim @ “Da`wah-Events”: they get all Hyped-Up via a Religio Feel-Good-Feeling. Handing-Out Pamphlets, by itself, isn’t True-Da`wah. Just goving someone “Shahādah” and then sendin em on they Way isn’t True-Da`wah. Human-Communication, Human-Interactions, Socio-Engagement, Community-Building, etc.: Things like this are what True-Da`wah is.
To Da`wah or not to Da`wah
Most-Muslims via the “Da`wah-Scene are Self-Serving Individuals
Allah states:
“Those desiring to be noticed.”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.107, V.6)
Muslims via the “Da`wah-Scene” want Ma`rifah/Recognition for “Doin da Da`wah”. They want the Attention, the Limelight, the Noteriety, the Attention from the Opposite-Gender, etc. But, that all comes with a Price not worth paying via the Hereafter. And, this is pertaining to giving “Da`wah” for Fame, instead of only for Allah.
(al-Bukhārī, Muslim, at-Tirmidhī, an-Nasā’ī, ibn-Mājah, al-Baghawī, Ahmad)
The Fitnah/Trial of “Muslim-Celebrity” Culture and its Judgmental-Effects
Giving “Da`wah” is the Qiwāmah (Islāmic-Responsibility) of every Muslim-Individual anyway
Muhammad (Peace be upon them) stated:
“Even if only 1-Āyah/Sign, convey from me.”
(al-Bukhārī)
There’s a Standard-Mythos/Fallacy via the “Da`wah-Scene”, that one has to have a “Certain-Level of Islāmic-Knowledge” in order to “give Da`wah”. Such a Claim is 💯%-Untruth/Dishonesty. Ironically, some of the Greatest-Du`āt amongst as-Sahābah (the Companions of Muhammad [May Allah be pleased with them]) were barely Islāmically-Knowledgeable Textwise as many/most so-called “Du`āt” today. But, guess what?!!! The Companions walked it like they talked it, while most of us just talk it. The Companions really lived al-Islām: so/too many of us merely sloganize/fetishize al-Islām.
The “Dos & Don’ts” for New-Muslims
Most-Muslims via the “Da`wah-Scene” try too hard to get “Shahādahs” under their Belts
Allah states:
“So, remember: You’re only a Reminder.”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.88, V.21)
These so-called “Du`āt” literally lack 2 of the Most-Important Sifāt (Characteristics) which any Muslim is Islāmically-Mandated to possess: Humility&Patience. A Person becoming a Muslim is never on our Time, rather it’s always on Allah’s-Time. Only Allah gets to decide who’s going to be guided when, where, how, why. It’s never our “Right”, to attempt to “Shahādah-Chase”. A Person taking Shahādah (Islāmic-Faith Testimony), by itself, means nothing if they aren’t properly educated/cultivated upon Islāmic-Teachings. There’s countless so-called “Du`āt” whom claim/brag that “Such&Such Amount of People became Muslim by my Hands.”. Our Role, as Muslims, is exclusively to inform Others about what al-Islām as well as what it isn’t.
The Necessity to have Humility via Self-Reflection and Self-Correction
Many-Muslims via the “Da`wah-Scene” live Double-Lives
Allah states:
“Those whom believe pay attention: Why do you say what you don’t even do?!!!”
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.61, V.2)
The “Da`wah-Scene” is quite literally amongst the Most-Hypocritical Atmospheres I’ve ever allowed myself to be immersed in. The Characters present via the “Da`wah-Scene” are some of the most Morally-Bankrupt Muslims via Human-History. On the Surface these so-called “Du`āt” don the Cloak of Pseudo-Piety/Fake-Righteousness: in All-Reality they ain’t Shit.
Muslim-Men still co-signing Toxic Sexual-Behaviors of Other Muslim-Men are Complete-Bozos
The “Da`wah-Scene” is a Fake-Environment
Muhammad once described ar-Riyāh (Flamboyance) as:
“…more subtle/elusive than a Crawling-Ant.”
(al-Bukhārī, Muslim, at-Tirmidhī, an-Nasā’ī, ibn-Mājah, al-Baghawī, Ahmad)
The Global “Da`wah-Scene” Community is basically a Religio Dick-Measuring Contest: braggin bout who “gives” the most “Da`wah”, prideful as per how many “Shahādahs” they’ve given, pontificating that they’re “This-Shaykh” or “That-Shaykh”. It’s honestly spiritually-nausiating.
10-Reasons I’m grateful I’m not considered a “Person-Of-Knowledge”
Most Da`wah-Opportunities are external of the “Da`wah-Scene”
Muhammad stated:
“Whoever believes in Allah & the Last-Day:
Speak Positivity or say nothing.
Treat one’s Guests via Nobility.
Treat one’s Neighbors via Nobility.”
(an-Nawawī)
If the Average so-called “Dā`ī” actually manifested the aforementioned: their “Da`wah-Efforts” would actually mean something. There’s Untold-Amounts of these so-called “Du`āt” who wouldn’t give you Piss to dribk if you were dyin of Thirst. They don’t give a Fuck bout nobody, except their “Reputation” as a “Dā`ī”. They care nothing about being a Positive-Person. There’s Certain-Muslims I know personally, who claim/brag to be “Du`āt”: they’ve Children who’ve committed ar-Riddah (Apostasy), their own Children are Destitute-Beggars on the Streets, etc.
Game-Of-Thobes: The Financial-Plight of the “Imām”
Positive-Character/Behavior is the Purest-Da`wah
Muhammad stated:
“Character/Behavior will weigh heaviest upon the Scales (via the Day-Of-Standing).”
(an-Nawawī)
This, by default/definition, proves that the Way we as Muslims treat the Other is crucial via the Eyes/Sight-Of-Allah. It truly matters a lot how we view Others as well as how Muslims show-up and present our Muslimness publicly & privately. Every Muslim should be highly concerned with the Aforementioned-Prophecy about the Importance of Character/Behavior.
Gareth Bryant’s Life-Lessons concerning Human-Nature
Conclusion
Just be Muslim-1st & truly live al-Islām:
That’s the Real-Da`wah…
…anything else is Bullshit.
