al-Muqaddimah/Prelude
Walīd Basyūnī chose to respond to a Questioner, regarding what a Muslim must/should do if:
One goes to a Masjid (Mosque) and they’ve missed the Jamā`ah (Congregation) of al`Ishā’ (Nitetime-Salāh/Prayer), and they witness Others praying at-Tarāwīh (Ramadhān Nitetime-Salāh).
Walīd Basyūnī responded with the Following-Answer.

My Response to Walīd Basyūnī and their Response to me.

Walīd Basyūnī unintentionally proved my Point via their own Post.

And, ironically, my Entire-Point was highlighting the Reality that al-Farā’idh wil always matter more than an-Nawāfil.
Amthāl/Examples of what I mean
Number-1
The Fadhā’il/Merits of making al-`Umrah (Mini-Hajj/Pilgrimage) during the Fasting-Month of Ramadhān is Mutawātir (Public-Fact), as Muhammad stated that whomever makes al-`Umrah during Ramadhān they’ll reveive Ajr/Reward as though they’ve made al-Hajj (Pilgrimage) and/or Hajj with Muhammad. In spite of such a Hefty-Ajr/Reward: even al-`Umrah during the Month-Of-Ramadhān will never “replace” the Farīdhah (Islāmic-Mandate) to make al-Hajj. al-Hajj is a Rukn (Pillar) of al-Islām, while al-`Umrah isn’t. Fortunately, it’s only Mafrūdh (Islāmically-Mandatory) to make al-Hajj once during one’s Individual-Lifetime.
Number-2
There was a Companion during the Lifetime of Muhammad: a Bedouin (May Allah be pleased with them). They had asked Muhammad about the Things/Acts which will get someone into Paradise. Muhammad mentioned the Following-Things/Acts:
Never committing ash-Shirk (Association) with Allah
Making the 5-Daily Obligatory-Salawāt/Prayers
Obligatory-Fasting during the Month-Of-Ramadhān
Giving az-Zakāh (Taxation)
The Companion-Bedouin swore by Allah, that they’d never do more nor less than what Muhammad articulated and then Spinned-Off. Muhammad had informed the Other-Comoanions present for This-Scenario (May Allah be pleased with them), that the Bedouin is amongst the Inhabitants of the Paradise.
(al-Bukhārī&Muslim, an-Nawawī)
Let me make something Clear
In no Way am I “against” an-Nawāfil.
I’ve never, nor would I ever “discourage” any Fellow-Muslim to “reject/abandon” an-Nawāfil.
At the Same-Time, I’ll always push for al-Farā’idh having Superiority over an-Nawāfil.
