Allah states:
“Those whom believe pay attention: Revere Allah & observe what you’ve prepared for Tomorrow (the Day-Of-Standing). Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.”.
(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.59, V.18)
Most of us, when we think about al-Mīrāth: we’ve only have Things like Inheritance, Generational-Wealth, etc. on our Minds&Hearts…#HumanNature However, al-Mīrāth, it’s about leaving behind Things about one’s Self which Others will take Pride in sharing, broadcasting, etc. with Others. What we leave behind as per al-Khuluq/al-Adab (Character/Behavior) this’ll will be the Most-Important Mīrāth…as Muhammad (Peace be upon them) stated:
“Character will way heaviest upon the Scales (via the Day-Of-Standing).”.
(an-Nawawī)
Muhammad stated:
“There’s no Muslim who plants any Tree, or sows any Seed, and a Bird, or a Human, or an Animal eats from it, except that it counts as Philanthropy for them.”
(al-Bukhārī)
“Even if the Day-Of-Standing were upon any amongst you while they’ve in their Hand a Sapling…they’re to plant it still.”
(Ahmad, al-Arnā’ūt, Muslim)
The `Ām/Year of Abī-Yams/The Yamsfather
“A Society grows great, when Ole-Men plant Trees whose Shades they know they’ll never sit in/under.”
(Greek-Proverb)
The Year of 1445, A.H./2024, C.E. had caused me to ponder upon this greatly. The Reason how/why is because of Things I’ve set in motion personally, which’re going to have All-Types/Kinds of Perpetual-Consequences while I’m still Alive & while I’m Dead. There were Religio-Academic Pursuits, Debates, Conflicts, etc. which I’ve initiated that’s going to have Uncharted/Unpredictable-Consequences resulting from what I’ve decided to explore, aproach, address, confront, attack, etc. as per Religio-Academia amongst the Muslims.
Muhammad stated:
“Always speak Truth, even if it’s bitter (even if it rubs People the Wrong-Way).”

(Allah knows best) I may never see the Full-Extent of how far-reaching my Religio-Academic Research/Debates carries. Yet, that’s OK. What’s most-important is I’ve planted Seeds which I hope Allah will continue to grow&blossom beyond my Dunyāwī/Mundane-Life and that Those-Seeds are added to my Scales as Positive-Actions via the Day-Of-Standing.
But, how/why the Emphasis/Focus on al-Mirāth so heavily though?!!!
Each & all of us, as Humans, will perish. As a Result of this being 💯%-Factual: each of us will leave Things behind for Others. Amongst the Most-Important are the Memories of us which Others preserve via their Minds/Hearts. Everyone has a Legacy…it doesn’t matter whether one lived as long as Adam: the Progenitor/Patriarch-Of-Humanity (Peace be upon them), or whether one only lived for 5mins. after their Birth. Now, by & large: those of us whom lived Full-Lives, we must choose how we’ll be remembered & what we’ll be remembered for. I really try my best, to reflect upon such a Hāqqah/Reality-Check very often.

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: “If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect; and if anyone invites others to follow misguidance, the sin of which he is guilty will be equivalent to those who follow him (in sinfulness and misguidance) without their sins being diminished in any respect.”
(Muslim, at-Tirmidhī, Abū-Dāwud, ibn-Mājah)
Jareer Ibn `Abdullaah رضي الله عنه reported that some desert Arabs, clad in woolen clothes, came to Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ. He ﷺ saw them in sad plight as they had been hard pressed by need. He ﷺ exhorted people to give charity, but they showed some reluctance until (signs) of anger could be seen on his face. Then a person from the Ansaar came with a purse containing silver. Then came another person and then other people followed them in succession until signs of happiness could be seen on his ﷺ face. Thereupon Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: “He who introduced some good practice in Islaam which was followed after him (by people) he would be assured of reward like one who followed it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who introduced some evil practice in Islaam which had been followed subsequently (by others), he would be required to bear the burden (in full) like that of one who followed this (evil practice) without their burden being diminished in any respect.”
(Muslim, bn-Mājah)

We all leave behind something for someone
The Reason how/why the Subject of al-Mīrāth is so essential: it’s something which all of us will pass-on to Others. It matters not whom we are, what we’ve done, etc. We’ll all be remembered for something. This is especially true/honest via the Modern-World courtesy of: the Information-Age, the Internet, the Social-Media Age, etc. where things are semi-permanently archieved someway/somehow via Cyber-Space. We each have Things either authered by us or about us…publicly or confidentially…eventually Those-Things may very well end-up being Public-Record & continue living long after we’re Demised. And, regardless of whether they’re Positive-Things or Negative-Things: Allah will hold us all responsible/accountable pertaining for any/all of what we’ve ever done from al-Balāghah/Puberty to al-Mawt/Death. This is precisely how/why we must humanly ensure that we’re On-Par, concerning our True-Purpose for existing via the Mundane…as Allah states: “And I’ve exclusively created Jinn/Fire-Beings & Human-Beings to worship Me.”.(Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.51, V.56)
The Ghurūr/Illusion of as-Sughrah/Youth
Especially when we’re Young-We’re rather apathetic/careless, when it comes to Consequence-Of-Action. I know for a Fact, that there’s Things I’ve done while Young which either still benefit or harm others till This-Day. And, equally, I know fully well that Allah will divinely press me about Those-Things via Yawm-il-Qiyāmah/the Day-Of-Standing. We’ve to constantly/consistanly remind ourselves: there’s no such Thing as “Forever-Young”…”Forever21” is only a Department-Store. We all will conduct (what’s known via the Profession of an-Nasīhah/Chaplaincy) a “Life-Review”. This of course being a Truth/Honest Self-Evaluation of how we’ve lived our Lives via ad-Dunyā/the Mundane. Some of us undergo Life-Review daily or Several-Times per Day. Some of us may do so weekly, or monthly, or seasonly, or annually, etc. And then there’s those of us whom exclusively do so if/when we know we’re Actively-Dying. al-Mīrāth will always be something either used for us or against us. Being the Case, how often do any of us actually introspect/reflect upon that which we all will leave behind?!!! As we speak, literally, there’s those of us whom will benefit Others long after we’re Dead & those of us whom will continue to harm from beyond al-Qabr/the Grave. it’s just as the Statement of `Abdillah ibn-`Uthmān ibn-`Āmir (AKA Abū-Bakr as-Siddīq): “Those whose Evil outlives them are Cursed.”. But, let us not be amongst those whom’re Cursed-Individuals. Instead, let us be forthright, as per regularly pondering upon how to self-improve, do More-Good, etc. thus leaving behind a Positive-Mīrāth as opposed to any Negative-Mīrāth.
